A Complete Guide to the Terms on Bitunix's Futures Trading Page (App)

Kerwin 2026/02/06 5Minuto 43.94K

Introduction

For many traders, Bitunix futures trading offers both opportunities and added complexity compared with spot trading. If you are opening the Bitunix Futures interface for the first time, it is normal to feel overwhelmed by the amount of information on the chart, order book, and trading panels.

Understanding the key terms is the first step toward trading confidently and managing risk properly. This guide explains the core fields on the Futures page based on the platform layout, so you can navigate the interface more efficiently and build a solid foundation for futures trading.

Why should we understand futures terms?

Understanding futures terminology is not only about learning the interface. It is also essential for safer and more effective trading:

  • Make better market judgments: Indicators such as the funding rate, index price, and mark price help you understand market sentiment and how pricing works.

  • Reduce liquidation risk: Knowing concepts like maintenance margin and liquidation rules helps you avoid avoidable liquidations caused by misunderstandings.

  • Trade more efficiently: Understanding order types, price protection, and trading limits helps you act faster in volatile markets.

  • Optimize costs and strategy: Knowing fee tiers and the maker vs taker fee model helps you plan lower cost execution strategies.

Bitunix Futures Page Overview (App)

We explain the key fields on the Bitunix Futures page from left to right across five main areas.

1、Order Book Panel

Panel display item (noun)Meaning and analysis
BTCUSDTThe current view shows the Bitcoin (BTC) to Tether (USDT) trading pair, corresponding to a perpetual futures contract with no expiration date. As long as the position is not liquidated, it can be held indefinitely.
−1.67%Indicates that the contract price has decreased by 1.67% compared with 24 hours ago, reflecting short term price movement.
Funding rate / CountdownFunding rate: A mechanism used to keep the perpetual contract price aligned with the spot index price and to reflect market sentiment. Positive rate: longs pay shorts.

Negative rate: shorts pay longs. Funding is generally settled every 8 hours.

Note: Due to low liquidity and high volatility, some newly listed or low volume contracts may use more frequent funding intervals, such as hourly settlement. This can lead to higher trading costs.

Settlement times (UTC+8): 08:00, 16:00, 00:00.

Current funding rate: 0.0062% for the upcoming settlement.

Countdown: 7 hours, 40 minutes, and 46 seconds remaining until the next settlement.

Example: If you hold a long position in the BTCUSDT perpetual contract with a notional value of 10,000 USDT, and the funding rate is 0.0031%, the short side will pay you a funding fee of approximately 0.31 USDT (10,000 × 0.0031%).

Sell order area (red, upper section)Displays pending sell orders in the order book, with prices arranged from high to low (76,954.8–76,953.8). This area reflects short term selling pressure.
Latest transaction price (76,973.2)The most recent execution price of the current contract.
Buy order area (green, lower section)Displays pending buy orders in the order book, with prices arranged from low to high (76,953.1–76,953.7). This area reflects short term buying support.
Long / Short ratio (B 37% / S 63%)
Represents the proportion of long and short orders in the current order book.
B: proportion of buy orders (long positions).

S: proportion of sell orders (short positions).

This ratio provides a quick view of short term market sentiment. In this example, short positions slightly exceed long positions, indicating a bearish bias.
0.1Indicates the minimum price tick size. Prices are displayed with one decimal place, for example 87,893.4, rather than rounded to whole numbers.

2、Order Panel and Position Settings

Panel display items (from top to bottom)Meaning and function
Full Position (Margin Mode)Click Full Position to switch margin modes.

Current mode: Cross Margin (Full Position Mode). In this mode, all positions for the same asset share the available margin in your account. If losses reach the liquidation threshold, margin and positions under that asset may be liquidated.

Position-by-Position mode (Isolated Margin): The system allocates independent margin for each position. If a position’s margin ratio falls below the Maintenance Margin, only that position may be liquidated. Other funds and positions are not affected. You can manually add or reduce margin for an isolated position.

Tip: Click the triangle icon on the right of Full Position to open the drop-down menu.
200× (Leverage Ratio)
Shows the currently selected leverage, which is 200×. This means you can open a position with up to 200 times the initial margin.

Click the leverage value (for example 200×)
to open the leverage selector and choose other levels, such as 100×, 50×, 20×, or 10×. Higher leverage increases both potential returns and liquidation risk, so choose based on your risk tolerance.

Bitunix has officially upgraded its perpetual contracts, allowing leverage of up to
200× on BTC/USDT and ETH/USDT perpetual contracts.

Single (Asset Mode)
Click Single to switch between asset modes: Single-Asset Mode and Multi-Assets Mode.

Single-Asset Mode: Only USDT is used as margin for this contract. This is a USDT-margined contract quoted and settled in USDT.

1. Cross-asset margin is not supported. Each asset’s risk in the futures account is segregated and does not affect other assets.
2. Profits and losses can offset between positions that use the same margin asset.
3. Both Cross Margin and Isolated Margin modes are supported.

Multi-Assets Mode: Cross-asset margin is supported. Multiple assets in the futures account can be used as margin.

1. Assets in the futures account can serve as margin for each other.
2. Profits and losses can offset across positions that use different margin assets.
3. Only Cross Margin mode is supported.
Open / Close (Position Actions)
Open Long:
Open a long position when you expect the price to rise.

Open Short: Open a short position when you expect the price to fall. Close: Close an existing position to realize profit or loss.
Market Order (Order Method)
Click Market Order to switch order methods.

Limit Order: Set a specific price. The order executes at that price or better, but the fill is not guaranteed.

Market Order: Executes immediately at the best available market price. It is fast, but the execution price may differ from the displayed price due to slippage.

Tracking Order: A strategy order. When price pulls back to your set range, the system automatically submits the order.

Planned Order: Set the trigger price, order price, and quantity in advance. When the trigger price is reached, the system places the order automatically. Margin and positions are not frozen before the trigger activates, making it suitable for early strategy

planning. Post Only (Core Rules):
1.No immediate execution: If the order would fill immediately, it will be canceled instead.

2. Price requirements: For a buy order, the price must be below the current best ask. For a sell order, the price must be above the current best bid.

3. Adds liquidity only: Post-only orders enter the order book and may qualify for maker fees. In futures trading, different order methods can result in different fees.

Optional tools to pre-set trigger prices. Take Profit: When price reaches your target profit level, the system automatically closes the position to lock in profit. Stop Loss: When price reaches your loss limit, the system automatically closes the position to limit losses.

Bitunix Guaranteed Stop Loss Coupons: Can deduct fees and provide zero-slippage risk protection, helping reduce the risk of not being able to close positions in time during extreme market conditions.

Full Position Mode (currently selected): All positions under the same asset share the available margin in the account. If losses trigger liquidation conditions, all margin and positions for that asset may be liquidated.

Position-by-Position Mode: Each position uses independent margin. If a position’s margin ratio falls below the Maintenance Margin, only that position will be liquidated. Other positions and funds are not affected. You can manually add or reduce margin for an isolated position.
