VeChain is a blockchain-based platform designed to decentralize the supply chain industry and function as a decentralized application (dApp) ecosystem. The original goal of VeChain was to provide supply chain industry organizations with the ability to efficiently transfer and verify supply chain data using the immutable and transparent nature of blockchain technology. While VeChain is widely used within the supply chain industry, the launch of the VeChain Thor mainnet in 2018 saw VeChain shift from a supply chain-only project to the broader scope of general data solution dApps. VeChain works with a number of notable industry partners that include BMW, which leverages VeChain technology to prevent automobile odometer fraud, and LVMH, which uses VeChain to track luxury goods.
